    I wasn’t always inactive or unhealthy. In my early 20s, I was an energetic and active person. Life felt balanced, and my body responded well to movement. But everything slowly changed when I decided to prepare for various competitive examinations.

    Why My Life Changed After Competitive Exam Preparation

    Once I committed myself to competitive exams, my entire lifestyle shifted. I started spending almost the whole day at home, sitting for long hours with books and screens. Going out, moving my body, or even taking short walks felt like a waste of time.

    I believed that sacrificing everything else for exams was necessary. Unfortunately, that belief slowly pushed my health to the background.

    Years of Ignoring My Health Without Realizing It

    Over time, I completely ignored healthy habits.
    My sleep cycle was terrible.
    My eating habits were even worse.
    Physical activity became almost zero.

    I was living a sedentary life for years, without realizing how deeply it was affecting me — both mentally and physically.

    Depression, Loneliness, and the Weight I Carried Inside and Out

    When the results didn’t go my way and I couldn’t clear the exams, things became much harder. I felt depressed, lonely, and mentally exhausted. The disappointment of failure mixed with isolation took a heavy toll.

    At the same time, my body started changing. I gained a lot of weight, my metabolism slowed down, and my energy levels dropped drastically.

    Body Shaming, Pain, and Loss of Confidence

    As my weight increased, I started facing body shaming — sometimes from people outside, sometimes from my own family. In India, body shaming is often brushed off as “normal jokes,” but deep inside, those words hurt a lot.

    I began experiencing back pain because of my weight. I couldn’t move quickly like I used to. My clothes stopped fitting me properly. My confidence was at its lowest point.

    Some people even mocked me by calling me “pregnant.” I laughed it off on the outside, but internally, it broke me a little every time.

    My First Attempt: Joining the Gym and Quitting Too Soon

    Determined to change, I joined a gym. I worked out for a few months, expecting fast results. But when I didn’t see visible changes quickly, I lost motivation and quit.

    One day, my sister — who was following a proper diet — told me something very simple:

    “It doesn’t matter how hard you work out. If you don’t change your eating habits, losing weight will be very difficult.”

    At first, I didn’t take her words seriously. But when I started seeing real changes in her body and health, it finally hit me — she was right.

    That’s when I made the biggest change of my journey.

    I completely stopped eating outside food drenched in oil.
    I focused on protein-based meals and clean, homemade food.
